Sport is an integral part of life for many at Avondale College, with over 700 students representing the school in over 35 sports. College teams and individual teams compete in the Auckland Secondary Schools competitions, many taking part in the premier Auckland grades.
Annually, our premier teams travel throughout New Zealand to compete in the New Zealand Secondary Schools National Tournaments; on many occasions ermerging victorious.
Avondale College also offers a Sports Academy programme to promising junior students, with specialist coaching in six sporting areas.
Supporting our students is a network of expert coaches, both internally in the form of teachers and externally from contracted professionals.
In addition to these coaches, we have fantastic facilities which include: a 1000 seat sports stadium; a second gym, housing a full basketball court; expansive, well-drained fields; a full-size water-based hockey turf; two squash courts and a well-equipped weights room.
