Sport Aerobics
Sport Aerobics is competitive aerobics that is performed onstage in a square of 7 x 7. Each competitor has a routine of 1.45 minutes and each routine comprises of four main families - Jumps and Leaps, Flexibility, Dynamic Strength and Static Strength. Amongst these four families there is aerobics movement connecting each of the skill elements.
At Avondale College we start coaching at Level One. It takes one year to master a level, and students compete twice, progressing each year until Level Three.
Once at Level Three, students are entered into the Open grade competitions. The difference between the Levels routines and the Open routines is the choreography of each routine. In the levels competitions the routines are pre-selected, whereas in the Open competition the routines are choreographed by the student’s coach.
