Learning Development

The Learning Development Department provides a range of support for students who have particular needs in their learning. This can involve a wide range of students, including those with exceptional abilities (known as gifted and talented), those who need extra assistance in writing exams, and those who struggle with the literacy levels needed to succeed in the curriculum.

Our team exists to devise the best ways to meet these needs. Some students are withdrawn from mainstream classes on rotation for one-to-one or small group reading and writing activities. In other cases teachers or Education Support Workers may go into mainstream lessons to work with students in particular subjects.

We maintain a friendly working environment, in which students are encouraged to take a positive approach to their own learning.
