"Ich heiße Felix Kraft, bin 18 Jahre alt und lebe in Bad Oldesloe, einer Kleinstadt in der Nähe von Hamburg. Seit Juli 2009 besuche ich als International Student das Avondale College in Auckland. Zur Schule fahre ich jeden Morgen mit dem Zug, der fast vor meiner Haustür abfährt. Meine Gastfamilie hat mich mit offenen Armen aufgenommen. Gastmutter June und Gastvater Terry sind beide außergewöhnlich herzlich, immer nett und hilfsbereit. Im Haus wohnt außerdem noch ein weiterer Austauschschüler. Die ersten sechs Monate war es ein Brasilianer, dem dann im Januar 2010 ein Kolumbianer folgte. Seit ein paar Wochen nun lebe ich wieder mit einem Brasilianer unter einem Dach. Einen Gastbruder im gleichen Alter zu haben, macht vieles einfacher. Zum Beispiel erkunden wir gemeinsam die Stadt, wir helfen uns gegenseitig, und es ist immer jemand da, wenn man einfach mal nur reden möchte. Mit allen Gastbrüdern kam ich bestens zurecht, natürlich auch mit meinen Gasteltern. Gleich als ich ankam, erklärten sie mir, welche Regeln es in ihrem Haus gibt. Es sind nur ein paar, aber die gilt es auch ohne Ausnahme zu befolgen. Wenn man diese Regeln respektiert - und das fällt mir leicht - ist das Leben in einer anderen Familie sehr einfach."
