Barista course for Gateway students

Fourteen Avondale College students are newly qualified to serve great coffee, thanks to their involvement in a barista training course held in the College's Pavillion. The three day course, run by Goldstar Training, has involved two students from the Senior Employment Skills class and twelve from the College's Gateway programme.

As well as gaining industry credits, the students have learnt about the history of coffee, all about roasting of the bean and have had loads of hands on experience making all types of coffees. The budding baristas also got to create a new coffee based drink that they thought would appeal to the teenage market.

The students put their skills to the test on Wednesday morning, opening up a pop up cafe for Avondale College staff, who were appreciative of both the coffee and the great service!
