Fame the Musical - two weeks to go!

Opening Night is now just under two weeks away for the cast and crew of Avondale College's school show for 2023: Fame the Musical!

"It is very exciting to be doing a full musical production for the first time since 2019," says Head Prefect, Oscar Shaw, who plays Mr Myers, the inspirational drama teacher of the fictional School of the Performing Arts.

"It has allowed for a new approach to the way we do Show - like having an intimacy choreographer, and the inclusion of understudies and student assistant stage managers that make for a more collaborative and fun environment."

Sajal Teneja is one of four student assistant stage managers who have been involved in helping to ensure things run smoothly behind the scenes and in the rehearsals.

"I have loved being part of the stage management team, and I’m really excited to see this amazing production all come together," he says.

Jess Sharp, who plays drama student Serena, says the whole cast and crew have really bonded over the months of rehearsals.

"We have all put in “the hard work” and are super excited to perform! I’ve become so close with everyone and it’s just been an amazing experience that’s going to end up being an amazing show!"

Leo Taylor, who plays the lead character of actor Nick (and love interest of Serena), agrees.

"It’s so much fun and I’m really looking forward to putting all of our work on the stage for an audience. It’s the first full Avondale musical in YEARS - so come along!"

Fame the Musical runs from 12-16 September, 7pm at the Avondale College theatre.
