Despite only being in Year 11, newly elected Student Representative to the Board Milo Wilson-MacLeod already has a wealth of governance experience.

Having served as both a Home Room representative and a member of the Student Council, he has spent the last three years listening to students' concerns and helping bring their ideas to the attention of school leaders. It was these experiences, coupled with a slick election campaign, that secured him a comfortable victory over many other worthy contenders for the role.

One of Milo's priorities is to strengthen communication between student leaders and the wider student body, particularly through Home Room representatives.

"Lots of people aren't as engaged in student governance as they could be," he explained. "I think if more students understood how decisions are made, they would be more involved in the process and help to get things across the line."

He believes the role of Student Representative has the power to make a tangible difference to the school. He points to former Student Board representatives whose advocacy contributed to the establishment of the highly-anticipated Cultural Days and the introduction of the lavalava as a uniform option.

Looking further ahead, Milo has ambitious goals.

"My dream would be to be an electorate MP one day," he said. "This is a great opportunity to start work in a similar vein and learn more about how representation and governance work."

As he begins his term, Milo is eager to hear from students across the school. "I want people to feel like they can come and talk to me. I'm keen to make sure they know who the Rep is. It's about being available and accessible through all possible channels."

Students can email Milo with ideas, feedback, or issues they would like raised at Board level.
