Avondale College's annual classical music concert, Sound in Colour, provided a wonderful showcase of the talent, dedication, and musicianship of our students.
Hosted by Rose Elijas and Charlie McElroy, the evening featured performances from the Classical Academy, Taikaka Strings, Gospel Choir, Chamber Orchestra, and Symphony Orchestra, presenting a varied programme spanning classical favourites, folk music, contemporary works, film scores, and popular hits.
Highlights included the Gospel Choir's moving performances of O Lo'u Malu O Ia, He Kākano Ahau/Don't Dream It's Over, and Bohemian Rhapsody, as well as a captivating piano solo by Louis de Biasio, who performed Scriabin's Etude Op. 42 No. 5. Audience members were also treated to a beautiful performance of Caro Mio Ben by Gideon Vaopunimatagi and Louis de Biasio.
The evening concluded with the Symphony Orchestra, whose programme included a tribute to legendary film composer John Williams, alongside performances of Dancing Lights, Egyptian March, and Adele's Skyfall.
Congratulations to all the performers, conductors, accompanists, and music staff who contributed to such an impressive evening.
