Our Sports Awards Evening brought together the Avondale College sporting community to celebrate an outstanding year of achievement, leadership, and service.

The event recognised hundreds of students who demonstrated excellence across a wide range of sports, as well as the coaches, officials, volunteers, and supporters who helped make those achievements possible.

For Director of Sport Ms Page, one of the evening's highlights was acknowledging the 43 student coaches and officials whose leadership and dedication play a vital role in the growth and success of sport at Avondale College. The appreciation shown by students was evident throughout the ceremony, with spontaneous haka breaking out on several occasions in recognition of those being honoured.

The evening also marked the reintroduction of the Premier Badge, with 81 badges awarded to students in recognition of their service to Premier Sport.

“It was simply a fantastic evening that celebrated not only sporting success, but also the people, passion, and dedication that make up Avcol Sport,” said Ms Page.

A special thank you goes to our guest speaker, DJ Forbes, former captain of the New Zealand Sevens team, who shared insights from his remarkable career. With six World Series titles, a Commonwealth Games gold medal, and more than 500 appearances for the All Blacks Sevens, his message about resilience, leadership, and the importance of family was both affirming and impactful.

Congratulations to all our dedicated student athletes, award recipients, coaches, officials, volunteers, and supporters. We are incredibly proud of everything you have achieved this year. A special round of applause goes to our major award winners, who share below what receiving their awards means to them.
