The Environmental Groups ‘Clothes Drive’ returned for a second year and proved to be an even bigger success, demonstrating the power of our school community when we come together around a shared purpose. At the heart of the initiative was a commitment to kaitiakitanga - caring for our environment by reducing waste and giving clothing a second life, rather than contributing to the impacts of fast fashion on our planet.

In the weeks leading up to the event, our student leaders worked tirelessly to organise, promote and collect donations. Their passion for sustainability and leadership in driving this kaupapa was evident throughout, as they encouraged students, staff and the wider community to get involved. Thanks to their efforts, the response was overwhelming, with an incredible volume of clothing donated.

A special thank you must go to Wendy Perese from World Moving & Storage. Wendy and her team generously contributed multiple boxes of new and used clothing for a second year running, reflecting their strong commitment to reducing waste and supporting community initiatives. We are incredibly grateful for their partnership.

We would also like to acknowledge the generosity of our wider school community. The donations received from students, staff and whānau were outstanding, highlighting the collective willingness to support both people and the environment. With such a large number of items collected, there were initial questions about how quickly everything would be distributed. However, thanks to excellent organisation and strong engagement across the school, the event was a huge success. Hundreds of students visited across lunchtimes, selecting items they needed - all free of charge - and giving these clothes a new life.

Any remaining items will continue to support the wider community by being distributed to organisations and groups where they are most needed, ensuring that nothing goes to waste.
