Microsoft World Champs - 9th placing for Tarun

After their success in the New Zealand Microsoft Office Specialist Championship last term, three students - Jianing Xu, Tarun Mudaliar and Astro De Ronde - travelled to the Disneyland Hotel, Anaheim, California last week to compete at the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship.

A global competition testing students' skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel, this was an extraordinary opportunity for our students to test themselves on the world stage, and to compete with hundreds of students aged from 13 to 22 representing all nations.

Our three students acquitted themselves brilliantly, and represented their country, their families and Avondale College with confidence, warmth and impeccable manners.

The level of competition was intense and congratulations must go to Tarun, who gained an extremely impressive ninth in the world for Microsoft Word.

As well as meeting and getting know likeminded students from around the world, Jianing, Astro and Tarun got to the spend a day at the Disneyland Park and to enjoy a guided tour of some major sites of the region such as Hollywood Boulevard, Sunset Strip, Rodeo Drive, the Hollywood sign, Griffith Park, Venice Beach and the Santa Monica Pier.
