Kia ora koutou
My thoughts have been with our students, staff and their families over the past 48 hours, as Cyclone Gabrielle has passed over Auckland. I know that once again the weather has caused significant challenges to many across our community, as well as concerns for family and friends across the North Island. Thank you for supporting each other, checking in on one another and for helping those in need.
With the weather evolving very much as forecast, it is our intention to return to normal school from tomorrow, Wednesday 15 February. Lessons will run to our Wednesday timetable, commencing at 9.10am for students, in their period 1 class. The school library will be open from 8.30am for any students who require a study space.
Tomorrow evening we will hold the Year 9 Parent and Student Information Evening in our Theatre from 6pm, and we look forward to seeing many of you there. Year 9 students do not need to wear uniform for this event.
Thursday is our annual Avondale College Athletics Day. Students may arrive to school in sports gear on Thursday – they should wear Avondale College PE Uniform, and seniors who no longer have school PE gear may wear plain black or white sports gear. Students will be given further information about this day in assembly tomorrow.
If personal situations mean that some students are unable to attend school tomorrow, please notify our Attendance Office in the usual way – by logging into Family Connection, or emailing: absences@avcol.school.nz or phoning: 09 820 1071.
We look forward to seeing students back at school tomorrow.
