From the Principal: Key upcoming events

Dear Parent/ Caregiver

Welcome back to school for Term 3. Over the next two weeks there are some key events taking place for you to be aware of.

Pathways Planning

Our Pathways Planning evening takes place on Wednesday 19 July from 3.30pm to 6.30pm in the Performing Arts Centre. Students and their whānau are invited to this event to gain more information regarding future subject selection and opportunities beyond high school from external providers.

Year level specific advice and mentoring will be covered by Deputy Principals and Deans at the following times and classrooms within the Atrium:

•     Year 9: A8 – 4:00 & 5:00pm

•     Year 10: A9 – 4:30 & 5:30pm

•     Year 11: A10 – 4:00 & 5:00pm

•     Year 12: A11 – 4:30 & 5:30pm

•     Year 13: A12 – 4:00 & 5:00pm

Open Evening

Avondale College is holding our annual Open Evening on Wednesday 26 July from 4.00pm to 7.00pm. This is when whānau of prospective students are invited to view our school.

Timetabled classes will finish at 12.30pm, to allow for preparations for the evening. At this time your child will be released from class to go home. Buses have been rescheduled and will run at this earlier time. There will be supervision available in the library for students whose parents are unable to accommodate this earlier finishing time.

There are a number of students involved in Open Evening activities and their support of Avondale College is much appreciated.

Online enrolments for 2024 are now open on our website: Enrolment | Avondale College (avcol.school.nz)

Please note that in zone applications should be submitted by 1 August, and that out-of-zone applications, including those of siblings of current students, close at 4pm on Wednesday 30 August for inclusion in the ballot for the limited available spaces.

Yours faithfully

Lyndy Watkinson Principal
