The curtains are about to open on the Central Auckland Shakespeare Festival, being run as part of the nationwide Shakespeare Globe Centre NZ University of Otago Sheilah Winn Shakespeare Festival.
Avondale College is once again hosting the Central Auckland regional competition, which runs from Friday 5 April and Saturday 6 April.
Joining us for two days of fabulous Shakespeare performances are Mt Albert Grammar School, Baradene College, St Cuthbert’s College, Diocesan School and St Dominic’s College.
Avcol has seven scenes entered this year, including a Drama Academy ensemble piece from Julius Caesar, directed by Rita Stone, a haunting compilation from Othello directed by Michelle Greig, and a beachside- saxophone-accompanied piece from Much Ado About Nothing, directed by Sophie Kettley.
All Avondale College scenes are performed in Session C – 5pm on Saturday 6 April.
Tickets are available at the door - $12 waged and $5 unwaged.
